This book was almost the most thrilling and exciting book I have ever read. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to get it from my school book fair. So if you love ghost stories, then you will love this book. This book is about a girl named Diana and her little brother Georgie. Diana and Georgie have been living in the woods behind the Old Willis Place, a decaying mansion, for what seems like forever. A strict set of rules will not let them leave the property or even show themselves to anyone.
But when a new caretaker and his daughter, Lissa come to live there, Diana is temped to break the mysterious rules for the first time in return making new friends. Diana and Georgie learn quickly, breaking the rules can have consequences. Miss. Lilan died in the house any years ago, but her spirits remain. Diana decides to turn her back on the caretakers’ daughter, Lissa, and breaks the rules. Lissa then makes Diana go into the house. They let out the spirits. Now they have to worry about the consequences and whether or not the ghost will get them.

Likes about the book:

  • As you read, you get to read the journal entries that Diana has written
  • Diana and Lissa become friends until the spirits get out

Dislikes about the book

    • a second novel never came out
    • no one ever tore the house down
    • they are not allowed to leave the house or grounds
