The Presidential inauguration will be very monumental this year.  President elect Barack Obama will be taking his oath of office.  He will be the first African American president.  The inauguration is on the 20th of January and will be on the steps of the United States Capitol Building in Washington D.C. This event is a time for the president to swear his allegiance to the country promising to faithfully serve our country. The newly sworn in president will give an inaugural address.  After the oath, a band plays “Hail to the Chief” then there is a 21 gun salute. Celebrations and Gala’s are held all around the city after the ceremony is completed. This is a very important and memorable day.
