Mamma Mia!

Tonya Yoders (Staff Writer)

Mamma Mia! is the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical of the same name. It is based on the songs of ABBA and focuses on Sophie (Amanda Seyfried, Mean Girls), a 20-year-old girl trying to find her father in time for her wedding. The cast is incredible, with Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada) playing Sophie’s mother and three fabulous leading men playing her “fathers”. Former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, plays Sam, Colin Firth (Bridget Jones’ Diary) plays Harry, and Stellan Skarsgard (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End) plays Bill. The two eccentric family friends are played by Julie Walters (of the Harry Potter series) and Christine Baranski (How The Grinch Stole Christma).

Mamma Mia! is a feel-good film that will leave you singing “Dancing Queen” for days to come. You will laugh and cry and, by the end, be overjoyed. The ending is full of the surprises and it does not end at all how you would expect.
