Blood Drive

-- Sarah Burns (Staff Writer)

The National Honor Society hosted a blood drive through the American Red Cross on November 5, 2008. The National Honor Society members worked hard throughout the day to keep everything running smoothly. Mrs. Gilbert worked very hard not only the day of the blood drive, but before the blood drive to make sure that it was a success. The NHS seemed pleased with the turn out, and hopes to do even better in the spring. The NHS and The American Red Cross are very appreciative of those who donated. You can save three peoples’ lives by just donating one pint of your blood. There was a total of 47 pints donated at the blood drive. West Greene was in a competition with Carmichaels to see which school could donate more blood, and West Greene won. The NHS members are very excited about this. Hopefully in the spring there will be even more pints of blood donated. There is a scholarship that will be awarded to one of the NHS members. The more blood donated, the higher the scholarship. The American Red Cross and the NHS encourage everyone that is eligible to donate blood to do so during the spring drive. Remember: when you donate you may be saving three peoples’ lives.
