Greene County Career and Technology Center

-- Rebecca Pettit (Staff Writer)

During their sophomore year, many students begin to look for careers after high school. The Greene County Career and Technology Center can offer 13 different career options: cosmetology, health assistant, child care, business information technology, computer information technology, culinary arts, electrical occupations, precision machining, drafting, auto technology, automotive repair, welding, and building construction occupations.

The technology center also offers job shadowing; you go out into the field of interest and observe a day’s work being done. They also offer an internship; you go out and work for the same career you are learning about and get paid for the work you do. But at least once every two weeks you must report back to the technology center. Many career fairs are also held at the technology center to help students decide which college they might be interested in attending. They offer an excellent amount of information for the desired field. While there, you also get the opportunity to schedule a visit at the desired college.
