The Soccer Season

Do you like to play soccer? Well, did you know that West Greene now has a soccer team for high school girls? It is a coop with Waynesburg Central, Jefferson, and Carmichaels. If you would like to play soccer next fall, see Mr. Simms in the Athletic Office. West Greene students will be playing at and for Central Greene. Your head coach would be Herb Thompson. He is a great coach and you will learn so much! It is a great way to improve your teamwork skills while meeting new people from different schools!
The soccer team was comprised of two sections – Junior Varsity and Varsity. All levels of playing are welcome. Both teams did very well this season. The JV team’s scores do not count toward the actual record of the school. The varsity team did very well this year with 11 wins. Nine of those wins were shut outs! Our team even made it to the first round of play-offs. They lost but by only one point! It was an edge-of-your-seat game! Some teams that we played were Yough, McGuffy, Laurel Highlands, Fairmont, Belle Vernon, Connellsville, Albert Gallatin, and Uniontown. The soccer team also competes in tournaments.
