Mr. Rich Hopf’s 7th grade science classes recently welcomed guest speakers from Consol Energy. The West Greene School District, in a partnership with Consol and Junior Achievement, is pioneering a classroom program that provides an opportunity for students to learn about careers in energy. Through a series of guest speakers from Consol, students are actively engaged in activities and presentations from the leading experts in their fields. With the ever-growing demand in the Marcellus Shale industry, this program provides students with the opportunity to see and understand the vast career possibilities that are available in this geographic area.
Through this program, students have the opportunity to see that they can have successful careers in the natural gas industry right here in Southwestern Pennsylvania, and they are exposed to a wide range of occupations. Additionally, students are encouraged to think entrepreneurially, as the natural gas industry has provided many self-starters with business and development opportunities from a wide range of educational areas.
Thank you to Mr. Rich Hopf for incorporating this program into your course curriculum to provide this opportunity for our students!
