Dear West Greene Parents and Staff,

Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you may have experienced in respect to the transportation issues on February 13, 2019.

At West Greene School District, we take pride in ensuring our parent communication lines are always open and transparent. Unfortunately, we did not meet your—or our own—expectations. Upon thorough review of the situation, we narrowed the cause to a flawed system of communication.

As a testament to our strive for improvement, we have taken steps to ensure that this will never happen again by laying out an adapted procedure for these situations in the future.

  • An all call will be made if a bus is delayed for any reason
  • If the bus is not moving, we will call the home either by a one call or direct call every ½ hour to update parents on the status of the bus and passengers.
  • They will also be notified if another line of transportation is brought in to transport students to and/or from the school.
  • There is a safety concern for parents picking up children from the bus at the site of the incident. As a result, anyone coming to the site will be required to fill out an incident sheet and provide identification before the child is released from the bus.

Because of this serious oversight, we are available for phone conversations throughout the day to discuss any inconsistencies you may see in our transportation and or communication systems.

We deeply value your relationship with West Greene School District and are committed to providing you with the highest level of satisfaction simply because our parents and students deserve the very best. If you have any further questions or comments regarding this matter, please feel free to discuss it with us at (724)-499-5191.

Yours truly,

 Jed Hamberger
