News from West Greene's Cross Country Teams
Pioneer Ladies Bring Home the 1st Place Trophy in Single A at the A.J.
Everhart Uniontown Cross Country Invitational!!!


Penn State Fayette Campus Course – The Pioneer ladies finished first in Single
A in the Uniontown Invitational Saturday, September 23rd with an impressive
effort in sweltering heat on a dif ficult course; defeating all the Single A teams
and finishing 5th overall; in a field of athletes from twenty five A, AA, and AAA
schools. The girls team showed, resilience, strength and determination in
Saturday's competition. Additionally, Ashley Cumberledge medaled in the top 20
finishing 19th overall with a time of 23:15. It was a very successful and exciting
day for Pioneer Cross Country.


The Pioneer Ladies were able to run well with six finishing in the top of the field.
Leading the Pioneer ladies to the finish were Ashley Cumberledge followed
closely by McKenna Lampe in 21st place, Rachel Jones, Jersey Wise, Madison
Lampe, and Elizabeth Brudnock. Rounding out the top seven for the Varsity
Pioneers was Aurora McGowan. Competing in the Junior Varsity for the ladies
were Dakota Filby, Dani Fox, Amber Black, and Sydney Gilbert with strong
efforts.


Colton Anderson was the top boys Pioneer runner placing 87th in a field of 145
with a time of 21:34. Walker Lee competed in the Junior Varsity race running
well.


Up next for the Pioneer Cross Country teams is their Home meet at the
Waynesburg Airport; competing with Brownsville and McGuffey on Tuesday,
September 26th at 4:00 p.m. Come out and support the teams!
