West Greene students observed open-heart surgery at Allegheny General Hospital. The students observed the procedure that replaced the patient's aorta with an artificial aorta. Allegheny General Hospital also provides a host who guides students through the observation with additional information. The students view the surgery from an observation deck above and through video monitors that display a close-up of the procedure. Students from the West Greene Anatomy class attended the trip.
