Greene County’s First Golympics Event

West Greene School District hosted the first ever Golympics event for all the schools in Greene County. Jefferson Morgan, Carmichaels, IU 1 Waynesburg Campus, and West Greene all had students in attendance. The Peer Mentoring students helped design and ran the entire event themselves being assigned to activities and groups of students as well as utility workers throughout the entire day. Matt Rychtarsky was kind enough to donate his DJ services for the entire event today. Jim Elsenheimer and the Food Service Department provided a fabulous lunch for all the participants today. The West Greene Physical Education Teachers, Jordan Watson and Ashley Shinsky, provided us with all the materials we needed for the event. The Maintenance Department helped to setup everything needed for the event. Eileen White and Ginger Wise helped to develop the packets needed for all adults and the planning of the events. Jared Edgreen handled all the parking and entrance to the event for all the visitors. Haley Bissett and Trudy Hamilton also helped in planning the event. Laura Walters was the key player who organized the entire event and pulled it off flawlessly throughout the entire day. Students were awarded certificates for their career readiness portfolios as well as medals for the events. The West Greene High School Teaching Staff was exceptional at making adaptations to their day of instruction for students to be able to participate in the event. Today was a huge success and none of it would have been possible without all of the invested parties involved. Thank you to everyone for your support of today's event.
