On Wednesday, December 6th, 2017, members of West Greene National Honor Society welcomed new peers. Fourteen new students went through the application process and were accepted into the society. Eligibility for the organization requires a 90.00 GPA or higher and eligible students must complete an application, an introduction letter, and multiple recommendation letters from both community and staff members. Once completed, the applicants go through a careful selection process by a number of teachers. If selected, the students are notified and invited to an induction ceremony. At the welcoming ceremony, the students were recognized for their diligent work and pledged to maintain their scholastic standings. Officers of the society discussed the characteristics that an NHS member should possess.  A candle lighting tradition followed the induction, and all members and parents were invited to the reception.
