We have Bees! Mrs. Patton’s second grade classroom has been studying the importance of honeybees. Dan and Linda Moore, local bee keepers visited our room to show us how these little heroes of nature live. Mr. and Mrs. Moore brought in a live bee colony. They were in a see through habitat. We were able to get up close and personal with these busy little creatures. Mr. Moore showed us tools that were used and how to use them. He also was able to explain communication between the insects, the different types of bees within the colony and how bee keepers tag queen bees. We had a wonderful time with our quest. The students will be writing a narrative about their experience.
