History

Mr. Patton's Greene County History/PA History students had the opportunity to go on a field trip throughout the area to visit sites and topics they had been covering in class.  Pastor Scott Blair gave the students a lesson on the John Corbly Indian Massacre in Garards Fort, PA.  Students visited the site of the attack, the graves of the attacked victims, and their home.

Next, the class went to Mason-Dixon Park in West Virginia where they took a 2-mile-long hike to the location of the last placed stone of Jeremiah Dixon and Charles Mason. Parker has a compass on his phone.  You can see that one side is North (Pennsylvania) and the other side is south, Virginia (West Virginia).

Lastly, we visited the grave of Levi Morris.  Levi Morris was the son of John Corbly's oldest daughter and the founder of the town Mount Morris.  While at the cemetery, the students looked for the gravestones of people who had requested pictures on the Find-A-Grave website.
