The elementary will be having the Spring Scholastic BOGO book fair April 15th-April 19th. Our book fair homepage is here: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/westgreeneelementarycenter3 More information and flyers will be coming home in the Tuesday folders on April 9th. We will once again be doing a Book Fairy eWallet for anyone that wants to donate money to help children that wouldn't otherwise have money for the fair. It was a big success last time! It enabled 25 students to get books from the fair that wouldn't have been able to otherwise! The link for the spring eWallet is here: https://shop.scholastic.com/ewallet/fund?lang=en_US&walletId=d1975124-d6a7-4163-8ec9-f7e7480fab69 If you are donating, please disregard the suggested value price and donate whatever amount you choose. Thank you for supporting our readers!

Shout out to Sean Campion for winning this year's Chemistry Polyhedron Element Project. Our chemistry students were tasks with creating a themed polyhedron ball(20 sided structure) that represented one of the elements on the Periodic Table. Sean selected Mercury allowing her to create an Alice In Wonderland themed project. The character the "Mad Hatter" was based on the history of Mercury. You see, top hats use to be covered in Mercury to help support their shape. However, the people that wore these hats ended up going mad due to their direct contact with this poison on their heads. Unfortunately, trial and error has been a very common practice throughout history with most of our elements. Sometimes good characteristics about an element came to light, but most of the time negative side effects from exposure/ use of our elements were discovered this way. Very creative project, great work Sean!

Middle and high school students took the opportunity today to learn some Floral Design skills! A growing need in our communities. We did a workshop where students learned about floral tools, some flower ID and then made their own boutonnière. We also had some students making an order for a community member at the same time.
