Kindergarten had a wonderful time celebrating Johnny Appleseed's Birthday September 26. Can you believe he is 251 years old? The students in Mrs. Shaffer's and Mrs. Hart's classrooms had a visit from Johnny. He read the story of The Bad Apple a tale of friendship. The students graphed their favorite apples, made homemade applesauce, had a taste test, counted apples, made an apple craft, learned how to make an apple smile and discovered what shape lives inside an apple house! Thank you Ms. Whitlatch for sharing in our Kindergarten Apple adventure! It was a Fun Friday Apple event!

🔬Did you know West Greene has its very own Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)!
This is such a wonderful and unique piece of equipment our high schoolers get to use personally. Soon our students will be running the microscope themselves but first they have to learn how to properly use other equipment we have in our science department including our autoclave.
🥼Mr. Shamay gave our students a run down of how to properly dry their samples in our autoclave, which is necessary prior to using our SEM. Here you can see some of our sophomores collecting items right behind our school.
🕷️🌻Soon we'll be looking at spiders, flowers and even grasshoppers under our microscope!

Mr. Rychtarsky’s classes observed the 24th Anniversary of 9/11 by watching the official video from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on Thursday, September 11. The video offers a moving glimpse into the personal stories of four survivors of the terrorist attacks that shook America to its core.
As a follow-up, students are working through a self-paced webquest that allows them to explore more information about the events of 9/11. Through this activity, they are hearing additional firsthand accounts from survivors and family members of those who were lost.
This experience is a part of our continued effort to honor the memories of those affected and ensure that we Never Forget. Where were you when the World Stopped Turning?
