Our 2024 1st-6th grade summer program is already underway and what an amazing start! This year's theme is Space On allowing our students to explore our solar system. Already this week our students have explored facts about Earth, started diving into NASA and its very interactive website, and even created their own phases of our moon using Oreos. On June 19th our students traveled to the WVU planetarium. Here students viewed our solar system as if they were in space!! Such an amazing experience right in our own backyard!!! More updates to come as the program continues until June 28.

Congratulations to our secretary and West Greene graduate, Lorie Hildreth. During her sophomore year of softball, Lorie hit for the home run cycle in a 10-15 loss to Carmichaels. This accomplishment was recognized by the Washington/Greene Chapter of The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame as the 2024 Hall of Fame Moment. It is believed to be the only known such achievement in WPIAL history.

What an exciting week!!!! Due to the efforts of The Clark Opportunity Foundation, West Virginia University, and West Greene's School Board/ Administration our 7-12 students were exposed to West Virginia University's P20 program for the third year in a row! This program allows students to design, research, develop, analyze, conclude and present their very own experiment. On May 28th, over 60 of our West Greene students in grades 8-12 showed off their hard work at the University by displaying their work in poster form. Forty-six of these students then formally presented to many members of the WVU faculty, along side many members of our WG community. Also in attendance were all our 7th and 8th grade students, giving them a peek at something they could be participating in for years to come. All our students did such an exceptional job and their efforts were recognized with an overnight stay on the WVU campus that included lots of foods, the planetarium, detailed tours of multiple WVU departments, quality time with classmates and teachers, and some fun exploring the WVU rec. center.
